A key portion of the process was dedicated to ensuring a near-identical match to preserve brand identity for minimal shelf disruption. The completed print uses bold color technology to preserve Dole® brand iconography in addition to industry-standard icons for easy reading on the shelf and a clear ingredients panel on the back.
Description: These high-end packages were reverse printed with variable information on a four-ply, foil-based structure for coffee applications. They feature a pre-applied de-gas valve, a soft-touch matte finish, and a peelable sealant. The design of this set of packages showcases a mosaic approach, where four different individual views combine to provide a complete city skyline. Digital printing on this conventional, high-barrier coffee package provides users the freedom to complement their standard coffee portfolio with creative designs or launch new products without compromising quality or product integrity.
Description: Digital printing requires different supply chain strategies. Brand owners have similar technical requirements as larger-volume customers necessitate specialized films. In this case, the hard candy required an anti-fog-coated PE so as not to stick. By thermally laminating the pre-laminate, the converter can supply just in time. (Conventional pre-laminate suppliers do not have such a stock product, and a request for such a specific application would take 10-plus weeks and volume requirements.) In the end, the structure assimilates extrusion lamination, but in multiple steps. The final structure is a matte BOPP/EVA thermally laminated to a surface printed MET PET/EVA that was made into a pre-laminate by thermally laminated to 1 mil PE coated with anti-fog.
