Georgia Company Completes Purchase of European Packager

Graphic Packaging Holding Company of Atlanta, Georgia, recently completed its purchase of AR Packaging Group AB, Europe’s second-largest producer of fiber-based consumer packaging.

“The acquisition accelerates Graphic Packaging’s growing position serving consumer packaged goods companies around the world with sustainable fiber-based packaging alternatives,” the company says in a news release about the deal that was first announced in May.

Graphic Packaging operates worldwide and trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol GPK. The stock has ranged from $13.72 last November to a high of $20.88 in September, which it was nearing again in the past week.

It is one of the largest producers of folding cartons and paper-based foodservice products in the United States, and it holds leading market positions in coated recycled paperboard, coated unbleached kraft paperboard, and solid bleached sulfate paperboard, the company says.

AR Packaging has net sales of approximately $1.1 billion, employs 5,000 people, and operates 30 factories in 13 countries.
