EPR Deadlines Approach for Colorado and Minnesota Programs

July 1, 2025, is the deadline for packaging producers to register with the Minnesota extended producer responsibility (EPR) law.

And the registration and reporting deadline for Colorado’s EPR law is July 30, 2025, according to Circular Action Alliance (CAA), the approved producer responsibility organization (PRO) in both states.

“These dates represent the first key obligations for producers under both states’ packaging EPR laws,” according to a CAA statement that also urged all companies that sell packaged goods into Colorado and Minnesota to act right away.

“EPR is rapidly gaining traction in the U.S., and CAA is helping streamline the process by offering a unified, harmonized approach across multiple states.”

A news release about the Minnesota producer registration deadline can be found on CAA’s website.

Also on its website, CAA’s Colorado executive director provides details about the Colorado reporting deadline in a blog post titled “What Producers Need to Know About Colorado’s Producer Responsibility Act.

“Producers play a key role in making this program a success, and CAA is here to ensure the registration and reporting process is as simple and supportive as possible,” said Geoffrey Inch, senior vice president of producer services at CAA, in a statement. “All producers should take action now to meet the upcoming deadline and reach out to CAA for any questions.”
