Company Touts Products to Make Waste Collection a Holiday Tradition

An international company that specializes in recycling hard-to-recycle materials is touting its waste collection products as a way for homeowners to get rid of their holiday waste.

Studies show that U.S. households generate 25% more waste between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, according to New Jersey-based TerraCycle.

People can buy TerraCycle’s Zero Waste Box™ to get rid of packaging and other holiday items, including electronics, and then ship it back without an additional cost.

“From holiday decor and cooking supplies to plastic packaging, it’s easy to lose sight of how much waste we generate during the holiday season,” said Tom Szaky, founder and CEO of TerraCycle, in a statement. “Zero Waste Box™ allows families to make sustainability part of their holiday tradition.”

The company suggests that people use the boxes to collect holiday decorations; food waste and broken cooking tools; plastic packaging; and an “All-In-One” box that can include packaging, small electronics, and damaged cookware.

“When full, the boxes are returned to TerraCycle for recycling using the affixed prepaid shipping label,” according to the company. “All accepted waste is guaranteed to be recycled into raw materials that can be used to make new products.”
