A record number of blood donors participated in a blood drive held February 5, 2025, during Sterile Packaging Day at MD&M West in Anaheim, California.
The Sterilization Packaging Manufacturers Council (SPMC®) started Sterile Packaging Day five years ago to raise awareness for the sterile packaging industry while also giving back.
The first SPMC® blood drive was held three years ago as a way to support communities. This year, the blood drive helped people impacted by the fires in California in recent weeks, organizers say.
Informa produces the MD&M West trade show and worked with SPMC® and the American Red Cross to accept blood donations. Organizers say that participation was expected to be about 50% higher than the blood drive in 2024, making the 2025 drive the biggest in its three years.
Sterile Packaging Day 2026 is scheduled for February 4. More about SPMC® can be found here.
