Ampac to Buy Gelpac

Ohio-based ProAmpac recently announced it is buying Gelpac, a producer of multiwall paper and poly-woven packaging products.

Terms of the deal, which is expected to close over the next few weeks, were not disclosed. It is subject to customary approvals and closing conditions, according to a ProAmpac news release.

Canada-based Gelpac, founded in 1956, will increase ProAmpac’s capacity and broaden its product portfolio for customers across the United States and Canada.

“Gelpac shares ProAmpac’s commitment to serve customers across the U.S. and Canada with high-performance, sustainability-focused flexible packaging solutions,” said Greg Tucker, ProAmpac’s founder, vice chair, and CEO, in a statement.

Alain Robillard, Gelpac president and CEO, says ProAmpac’s platform and capabilities will provide significant benefit to Gelpac’s customers and key partners.

Gelpac has six facilities in the U.S. and Canada. After the deal closes, Gelpac will maintain its operational presence and head office in Quebec.

ProAmpac operates 46 sites globally, with nearly 6,000 employees, according to the news release.
