The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is again urging members of Congress to support the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) while the pact is under review.
An initial letter of support sent in 2019 has been updated to state that the USMCA “remains critical to our economic future because it preserves and strengthens U.S. trade ties to Canada and Mexico,” the chamber said in its new appeal to Congress and Jamieson Greer, U.S. Trade Representative.
Businesses and trade organizations nationwide, including the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA), have signed the chamber’s letter. FPA’s Tariff Working Group and Government Affairs Committee have been following the trade situation closely.
“The letter highlights the agreement’s role in preserving and strengthening trade ties with Canada and Mexico, which support more than 13 million American jobs and provide vital markets for U.S. manufacturers, farmers, and small businesses,” FPA said in a statement.
