Companies involved in the flexible packaging industry participate in their communities and provide services beyond their business models. Here is a look at some of those efforts at some companies that are members of the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA).
American Packaging Donates to Flood Relief in Texas
American Packaging Corporation (APC) donated $100,000 to the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. The fund supports the immediate recovery of families and the long-term rebuilding of communities after the floods of July 4. The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country distributed funds to local organizations providing rescue, relief, recovery services, and flood assistance. The fund will support the impacted communities, including Boerne, Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort.
“We are heartbroken for the families who lost loved ones,” says Peter Schottland, executive chair of the board. “The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, guided by local leaders, will direct funding to families, first responders, and support agencies to bring some immediate support, as well as capital projects to support long-term rebuilding of homes, businesses, and communities.”
Printpack Workers Give Back
Printpack’s Atlanta associates raised $6,960 during the 2025 American Heart Campaign. To raise money, associates attended Wellness Wednesday, ordered Snackgrams, and tested their knowledge during Trivia Day. Workers at the company’s plant in Querétaro, Mexico, also raised money to support children with limited financial resources who have been diagnosed with cancer. And on March 9, 15 associates in Tijuana, Mexico, and their family members volunteered with the nonprofit Voluntarios TJ at Tijuana’s animal control center to provide a safe and comfortable place for animals to rest.
NOVA Chemicals Establishes Community Impact Fund
As part of the commissioning of its first polyethylene (PE) film recycling facility in Connersville, Indiana, NOVA Chemicals, Inc. donated $25,000 to the Fayette Community Foundation to establish the NOVA Chemicals Community Impact Fund. The fund supports local programs and projects, including youth development and education, health and human services, public safety, and community betterment. The donation is eligible for a matching grant from the Lilly Endowment Inc.’s GIFT VIII initiative, which matches eligible contributions at a rate of $2 for every $1 donated. Fayette Community Foundation will receive an additional $50,000 from Lilly Endowment.
ProAmpac Holds Events in April
In April, ProAmpac launched its fifth annual Global Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Week. The theme for this year was “Our Planet, Our People!” Each ProAmpac site held at least one safety-focused and environmentally conscious activity. Also, in honor of Earth Day in April, company workers held activities like recycling, tree planting, safety games, community cleanups, and butterfly habitat creation, many of which will support ProAmpac’s ongoing Project Butterfly biodiversity initiative.
“EHS Week reflects ProAmpac’s commitment to safety, sustainability, and community,” says Cindy Haven, director, EHS. “These activities showcase the passion and impact of ProAmpac’s employees.”
