Companies Invest in Their Communities

Companies involved in the flexible packaging industry participate in their communities and provide services beyond their business models. Here is a look at some of the efforts of companies that are members of the Flexible Packaging Association.

APC Provides Relief to Hurricane Victims

Family-owned American Packaging Corporation (APC) supported communities impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton and other major storms in the United States in 2024. Working with the American Red Cross of Western New York, APC employees joined the company—adding personal contributions to the corporate contribution—resulting in a total donation of $115,250.

“I’m so proud to work for a company that truly lives its core values every day,” said Ray Graham, president and CEO, in a statement.

“With the support of our ownership, the Schottland family, APC engages with our communities both near our APC centers and throughout the U.S. and once again proves our commitment by providing significant resources these families need to get back on their feet. I’m even more proud of our APC family members; so many of them also added personal contributions, too.”

Nick Bond, CEO of the American Red Cross of Western New York, said in a release that the donation will help impacted communities with their recovery.

“Unfortunately, we are seeing disasters that are more intense, more frequent, and of longer duration than ever before,” Bond said.

“It is only through the support of committed community partners like American Packaging Corporation that we can provide hope and recovery to families and individuals who are dealing with unimaginable loss.”

Founded in 1902, APC operates six Centers of Excellence in the U.S. and employs approximately 1,300 people.

The effort aimed to meet the heightened demand many communities faced during the season of giving.

Asheville, North Carolina, was among the recipients. The community was still recovering from the flooding caused by Hurricane Helene.

For over 50 years, Amcor and Kraft Heinz have collaborated to produce a wide range of packaging solutions, including flexible packaging and rigid containers for products such as condiments, sauces, and ready-to-eat meals.

“We are honored to partner with Kraft Heinz in our mutual commitment to fighting hunger,” according to Amcor in a news release. “Together, we’re working to create a brighter, more sustainable future.”
