Flexopack USA Inc., which is based in Greece, recently announced it is building its first U.S. manufacturing plant in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
This project calls for a 107,000-square-foot facility and will inject $33 million into the local economy, creating at least 60 new, full-time jobs, according to a news release from the office of Gov. Josh Shapiro.
The rail-served facility will be the first phase of a three-phase project. The company is the primary packaging supplier for Pennsylvania-based poultry company Bell & Evans.
The company received a funding proposal from the state Department of Community and Economic Development for a $500,000 Pennsylvania First grant. The company was also encouraged to apply for the Manufacturing Tax Credit program, and the Rail Freight Assistance program through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
“Keeping the supply chain short keeps more Pennsylvania dollars here at home,” state Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding said in a statement. “Investing to bring a major food-packaging manufacturer here is a huge win for our food producers, for the communities they support, and for Pennsylvania.”
Flexopack, a subsidiary of Greek manufacturer Flexopack International Limited, is a wholesale distributor of flexible packaging with special emphasis in co-extrusion of barrier and non-barrier films. Flexopack’s primary market is the food industry, with an emphasis in meat, poultry, cheese, and fish.
“Our new manufacturing facility in Lebanon County aims to strengthen the already significant commercial presence of Flexopack Group in the U.S. market,” said Stamatios Gkinosatis, CEO, Flexopack S.A., in a statement.
