Siegwerk Closes Deal for India-based Ink Manufacturer
Siegwerk recently completed its acquisition of Hi-Tech Inks, a manufacturer of flexographic and gravure printing inks in India.
“The acquisition marks a significant milestone in Siegwerk’s growth strategy and reinforces its long-term commitment to India, one of the company’s most important strategic markets,” the global company, which makes printing inks and coatings for packaging applications, said in a news release. “With the transaction now complete, the combined business becomes the largest player in India’s flexible packaging inks market, commanding over 20% market share.”
The deal expands Siegwerk’s portfolio with solvent- and water-based inks, metallic and special-effect inks, varnishes, and overprint varnishes, it also said. The combined organization will employ approximately 1,700 people across the country.
The acquisition is Siegwerk’s largest transaction since the acquisition of SICPA’s packaging inks business in 2005, the company says.
