Printpack intends to close a plant in North Carolina at the end of this year, according to an October 30 report by Business North Carolina.
About 90 people are expected to be laid off at the factory in Hendersonville, with some workers being offered jobs at other facilities owned by Georgia-based Printpack, the business journal reported, citing paperwork filed with the North Carolina Department of Commerce. The plant has been operational since the mid-1970s and currently produces several materials for packaging, including labels for water bottles and candy wrappers.
The third-generation family-owned company was founded in 1956 and has about 3,200 workers at facilities in the U.S. and Mexico, according to the company’s website.
