Companies Invest in Their Communities

Share

Companies involved in the flexible packaging industry participate in their communities and provide services beyond their business models. Here is a look at some of those efforts at companies that are members of the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA).

ProAmpac Workers Participate in FlexImpact™ Event

ProAmpac workers at sites in the U.S. and the United Kingdom participated in FlexImpact™ Clean-Up Days in November. The company’s event was held over two days and coincided with the FPA 2025 FlexForward® Conference, which took place November 4–6, 2025, in New Orleans. At the conference, attendees worked to clean up a city park on November 4. At ProAmpac, employees collected hundreds of pounds of litter and recyclables in communities where the company has locations.

The ProAmpac effort was led in part by Cindy Haven, the company’s senior director of environmental, health, and safety and co-chair of the FPA Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Committee. The EHS Committee also helped organize the event in New Orleans.

“Our teams continue to show that environmental action starts locally,” Haven says. “Through FlexImpact™ Clean-Up Days, we are not only improving the spaces where we live and work but also reinforcing our shared responsibility to care for the planet.”

Volunteers collected debris, including plastic bottles, cans, wrappers, broken pallets, pipes, and cigarette butts.

Kuraray America Cyclists Give Back

A team of 24 cyclists and volunteers from Kuraray America, Inc. participated in the 2025 Bike Around the Island, a cycling event organized by the Galveston Bay Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and restoring the Galveston Bay ecosystem in Texas.

As platinum sponsors, the company supports the foundation’s ongoing efforts to preserve the bay through education, habitat restoration, water protection, land conservation, and advocacy. Initiatives that include the Chocolate Bay Preserve restoration, Trash Bash® Cleanup, and Alternative Spring Break service projects demonstrate the power of community partnerships in advancing sustainability, the company says. On ride day, each team member completed a 43-mile route. The team raised $7,234, surpassing its goal of $4,500.
