Description: Digital printing requires different supply chain strategies. Brand owners have similar technical requirements as larger-volume customers necessitate specialized films. In this case, the hard candy required an anti-fog-coated PE so as not to stick. By thermally laminating the pre-laminate, the converter can supply just in time. (Conventional pre-laminate suppliers do not have such a stock product, and a request for such a specific application would take 10-plus weeks and volume requirements.) In the end, the structure assimilates extrusion lamination, but in multiple steps. The final structure is a matte BOPP/EVA thermally laminated to a surface printed MET PET/EVA that was made into a pre-laminate by thermally laminated to 1 mil PE coated with anti-fog.
