From November 3–4, the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR) will hold its next APR Design® Training and Tours program that includes lessons on how to design packaging for recyclability and why it is important, as well as tours of recycling facilities.
“This interactive program starts with an engaging classroom session on both days, covering what it means to be recyclable, how packaging makes it through the full North American recycling system, recommendations and watchouts for design, as well as recycling policy and economics updates,” APR says on its website. “In the afternoons, that learning is put to the test with guided tours.”
The course, which will be held in Indianapolis, Indiana, is geared toward package design engineers, sustainability managers, procurement managers, and product and marketing managers.
The cost is $1,250 for APR members and $1,550 for nonmembers, according to the website that encourages registration by October 13.
Packaging that is designed so that it will be accepted by recyclers improves circularity. The course agenda includes sessions on the plastic recycling process and deep looks into specific packaging types. The trainer will be led by Curt Cozart, APR’s chief operating officer, as well as president and owner of Common Sense Solutions, Inc., a consulting company specializing in plastics recycling plant design, project management, and operations.
