ProAmpac Takes Highest Achievement Award in FPA Annual Contest

Thirty-four achievement awards representing 20 packages were presented March 7, 2025, during the69th Annual Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards Competition, which included a Highest Achievement Award that went to ProAmpac.

Overall, the contest included 67 package submissions, resulting in 226 entries, because some packages competed across multiple categories, according to the Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) that sponsors the contest.

The awards were presented during FPA’s Annual Meeting held over three days at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa in Miami.

The competition placed a strong emphasis on sustainability and advancements in printing technology.

“The entries provided an excellent representation of current trends and key drivers in flexible packaging, particularly in sustainability,” said Scott Wilkins, a contest judge and founder and lead consultant for Scorcia Packaging Resources, LLC, in Texas, in a statement.

“Around 70% of the submissions were either entered into the sustainability category or demonstrated clear advantages of flexible packaging over alternative structures. The range of innovations was impressive, including store drop-off solutions, all-polyethylene structures, compostable films, and packaging incorporating post-consumer recycled content.”

The other judges were Bilge Altay, Ph.D., assistant professor of packaging and graphic media science at the College of Engineering Technology at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, and Chris Lyons, group president of Packaging Impressions magazine in Pennsylvania.

ProAmpac’s package that won the Highest Achievement Award was its PRO-EVO® Recyclable FL, which is a curbside-recyclable package. It also won gold awards in packaging excellence and technical innovation as well as a silver award in sustainability.
