Pixelle Specialty Solutions recently named a new CEO to replace Ross Bushnell, who has stepped down to pursue new opportunities, the company says in a news release.
Julie Schertell had been president and CEO of Mativ Holdings and Neenah Inc., where she “repositioned each company for accelerated growth and improved profitability,” Pixelle says.
Its board of directors notes that Bushnell oversaw the sale of its Stevens Point, Wisconsin, mill and led the business through the decision to close its facility in Chillicothe, Ohio. He will remain with Pixelle through September to serve as an adviser.
Pixelle has taken a number of actions to reposition the company, including new efforts at its headquarters in Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, which will improve productivity, cost, and quality, the company says.
At Mativ Holdings, which was created from the merger of Schweitzer Mauduit International and Neenah, Inc., Schertell led the merger and repositioned the portfolio by selling nonstrategic businesses, while reducing nonoperating costs by an additional 15%, Pixelle says.
Prior to the merger and while leading Neenah, Schertell repositioned the Neenah’s portfolio for growth, entering new categories and driving increased innovation and improved customer satisfaction. Her career path also includes serving as vice president of sales strategy and vice president of customer solutions for the Consumer Products Division at Georgia-Pacific Company.
