Organizers of PACK EXPO and an event organizer based in Germany recently announced they will jointly promote trade shows globally, expanding the reach for events geared toward the packaging and processing industry.

“For the food and beverage supply industry, the combined network of PMMI and Koelnmesse offers countless opportunities for participation in key target markets around the globe,” said Claire Steinbrück, food technology business unit manager at Koelnmesse GmbH, which will be working with PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, in a news release. “Increasingly, companies are adapting their strategy to diverse customer regions to be more independent of singular market effects. This is where we can provide perfect support with our global trade fairs.”

PMMI organizes the PACK EXPO trade shows in the United States and Mexico. Koelnmesse organizes supplier trade shows for the food and beverage industry, including Anuga FoodTec in Europe, Asia, and South America.

“PMMI has worked with Koelnmesse for many years and looks forward to this extended partnership to jointly promote our shows across the globe,” said Jim Pittas, PMMI’s president and CEO, in a release.

The agreement provides for mutual promotional support, as well as exhibition opportunities. Koelnmesse will support PMMI’s marketing efforts for the events in the U.S. and Mexico. PMMI will promote Koelnmesse’s events in Germany and Colombia.

The following shows are planned for 2023 and 2024:

PACK EXPO Las Vegas

PMMI also reports that PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2023 is on pace to be the largest since its inception and will include more than 2,000 suppliers.

“Industry growth is driving the expansion, with 60% of consumer packaged goods companies indicating that their investment in packaging machinery will increase in 2023, and 64% say their scheduled projects will increase,” PMMI said in referencing its 2023 Purchasing Plans and Priorities report in a release.

“Our industry is stronger than ever and positioned for unprecedented growth,” Pittas said in a release.

Due to a significant increase in demand, The Processing Zone is currently 44% larger than it was in 2021. This growth tracks with the increase in processing suppliers joining PMMI, with 27% of companies joining in the past two years offering processing solutions, PMMI reports.

The show will include a new show floor destination focusing on sustainability. The Logistics Pavilion will make its Las Vegas debut nearly double the size it was at PACK EXPO International 2022. And the Containers and Materials, PACKage Printing, and Healthcare Packaging pavilions are also larger than previous shows, according to PMMI.
