New Committee Will Help Set Fees for EPR Laws
The Circular Action Alliance (CAA) is creating a Producer Fee-Setting Consultation to provide a structured way for producers to help inform how fees for extended producer responsibility laws are developed across states.
So far, seven states have adopted EPR laws for packaging, with CAA acting as the producer responsibility organization in California, Colorado, Oregon, Minnesota, Maryland, and Washington. The seventh state, Maine, is seeking a company to run its program.
A steering committee will help shape how CAA consults the broader producer community, evaluating proposals for updates to the fee-setting methodology and providing feedback on the proposals, CAA said in a news release.
The committee will serve in an advisory capacity. CAA retains final decision-making authority.
The committee will support consultation to develop a fair, data-driven methodology and to reinforce CAA’s commitment to clear governance and accountability, CAA says.
