Siegwerk to Expand in India With New Deal
Siegwerk recently signed an agreement to buy Hi-Tech Inks, a producer of flexographic and gravure printing inks based in India.
“The move will significantly strengthen Siegwerk’s position in the fast-growing Indian flexible packaging market, making the combined business the largest player in the country with over 20% market share,” Siegwerk said in a statement. “The acquisition underscores Siegwerk’s long-term commitment to India and the broader Asia region, one of the company’s most important strategic growth markets.”
Hi-Tech Inks has a portfolio of solvent- and water-based inks, metallic and special-effect inks, varnishes, and over print varnishes (OPVs). Siegwerk also produces printing inks and coatings for packaging applications.
“The integration will enhance Siegwerk’s manufacturing footprint in India with dual sites in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan and Vapi, Gujarat—improving capacity and operational resilience,” the company also said.
The combined organization will employ approximately 1,700 people across India.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The sale is expected to close this spring or summer, subject to customary closing conditions.
